Bubble letters from your own words
Drawing bubble letters by hand takes practice: every letter has to swell evenly and the outline has to stay the same thickness all the way around. Here the puffy shape and the outline are worked out from the letters you type, so a name, a word or a short phrase comes out evenly rounded every time — and changing one letter redraws the whole thing.
Kinds of bubble letters you can make
- Classic bubble letters — rounded letters with one thick outline. Easy to read; good for names and signs.
- Glossy bubble letters — a shine on top that makes them look like balloons, candy or plastic.
- Layered bubble letters — two or three outlines stacked, like a sticker with a white edge.
- Patterned bubble letters — stripes, dots or gingham inside the letters.
- 3D bubble letters — puffy letters with a deep side, for posters and thumbnails.
Tips for bubble letters that read well
- Short words work best. Bubble letters are wide; one to three words fit a sign or a sticker.
- Pick a rounded, heavy font. Thin letters can’t puff up much before the holes close.
- Use a dark outer outline when the letters sit on a photo or a busy background.
- Check the inside of letters like a, e, o and B — if the holes close up, choose a style with thinner outlines.
