Varsity letters for teams, schools and spirit wear
This is college-style athletic lettering: a heavy slab letter with contrasting outlines in team colors — the look of letterman jackets, jerseys and stadium banners. Type a team, a school, a graduation year or a player's name. Use it for team shirts and jerseys (export a cut file for iron-on vinyl), senior-night and graduation signs, locker and room names, and game-day posts. Change the fill and outlines to your school colors in the editor.
Where this one works
Varsity Red is built for enamel-pin-style stickers, retro sign decals for a workshop or garage, and worn-look T-shirt logos. The stacked outlines keep the shape readable from across a room. A slightly aged, sign-painted feel. Because the words stay editable, it is quick to run off a set with different names on each one — the usual reason a design gets made twenty times.
How this look is built
- 3 outline layers (outermost first)
- #bd0505about 12.7% of the letter height
- #f5cab8about 9.0% of the letter height
- #bd0505about 5.3% of the letter height
- Fill
- #f5dbb8
- Letterform changes
- thickened strokes
Tips for using it
- The outlines are generous, so the shape survives at small sizes — good for stickers and small decals.
Cutting it from vinyl
- Tap Customize more to open it in the editor and export the SVG as a cut file. It is split into flat colour layers — at least 4 here (the fill, 3 outlines) — with overlapping letters already welded and the text turned into outlines, at true size.
- Cut one sheet of vinyl or HTV per layer — at least 4 colours in total. Upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space as-is (Silhouette Studio opens SVG in Designer Edition and up); nothing needs to be offset or welded again.
- Apply from the back: the outermost outline first, then each inner layer, and the letter fill last on top.

Questions about Varsity Red
Is Varsity Red free to use?
Yes. Type your words and download a transparent PNG or an SVG with no sign-up. The print-ready PDF and the cut file come from the editor (tap Customize more). Free while in beta; what you make is yours to use under our Terms.
Does Varsity Red stay sharp as an SVG?
Yes. The letters and outlines are vector paths, so they stay sharp at any size. Soft effects such as shadows may be placed inside the file as images.
How many vinyl colours does Varsity Red need?
At least 4: the fill and 3 outlines. The cut file makes a layer for each colour, so a shaded 3D side or letters in several colours add more layers.
Can I change the colours of Varsity Red?
Yes. Tap Customize more to open it in the editor and change the fill, each outline and the effects. Your words stay editable, and the downloaded file keeps the editing data so you can open it again later.
