The short answer
Save the image from ChatGPT, upload it in the store’s photo app, choose a store, and pick it up. 4x6 is the safest size: ChatGPT’s portrait images are 2:3, exactly the shape of a 4x6 print, so nothing gets cropped.
| Store | Typical 4x6 price | Pickup |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart | about $0.14–0.16 | about an hour at most stores |
| Walgreens | usually $0.35–0.49 | same day at many stores |
| CVS | varies by item | same day on many items |

1. Save the image from ChatGPT
Open the image in the ChatGPT app and tap Save. It goes to your photo library, and it also stays in ChatGPT’s Images library.
2. Pick a size that stays sharp
| Print size | Pixels needed at 300 dpi | A 1024×1536 image gives |
|---|---|---|
| 4x6 | 1200×1800 | about 256 dpi — sharp |
| 5x7 | 1500×2100 | about 205 dpi — fine at arm’s length |
| 8x10 | 2400×3000 | about 150 dpi — soft up close |
5x7 and 8x10 are a different shape from 2:3, so the edges get trimmed. Keep faces and words away from the edges, or add a margin first. For bigger prints, see why AI images print blurry.
3. Upload and pick up
- Open the Walmart, Walgreens or CVS app (or website) and go to photo prints.
- Upload the saved image and choose the size and quantity.
- Choose a nearby store for pickup and pay.
- Pick up when you get the “ready” notice.
4. For menus, flyers and signs, add real text afterward
If you ask ChatGPT to put prices or a shop name inside the image, the letters often come out garbled, and you can’t change a price later. Use the ChatGPT image as a background and add your text on top as real text.
DecoTecoPop does this in your phone’s browser: drop the image in as the background, add outlined, 3D or glitter text, and save a PNG or JPG for the photo counter — or a print-ready PDF for a print shop. The text stays sharp at any size and you can retype it any time. The full walkthrough is in how to print an image from ChatGPT on your phone.
